The Nine Kings

Nine kings, all playable. Each one brings a nine-card deck, its own decree pool and its own perk tree, and each guide on this site answers the same questions: what the deck wants, how it wins, and when it falls over.

How to start, and where to play

9 Kings is a roguelike deckbuilder about rival kingdoms. You place cards on your nine plots, the yearly battle resolves itself, and you pick one of three cards before the next year begins. The gameplay loop guide walks through it step by step, the cards page breaks down the six card types, and the difficulty ladder shows how the titles climb past King.

You can play today on Steam, GOG, Epic and the Microsoft Store, with PC Game Pass included; there is no console version, and the platform page untangles what that actually means. A free demo is still live, and the mobile version arrives on October 8, 2026.

9 Kings FAQ

Is 9 Kings available on Xbox or PlayStation?

No. There is no console version. The game is on PC Game Pass and the Microsoft Store, but that only means Windows PC: it cannot be played on Xbox consoles. Details on the platforms page.

When does the mobile version release?

October 8, 2026, on iOS and Android, ported by Playdigious. It is free to try with an in-app purchase to unlock the full game. See the mobile guide.

How many kings are playable?

All nine. The game launched with some kings still locked; King of Nomads arrived in August 2025 and King of Time, the ninth, in October 2025.

How many difficulties are there?

Nine base difficulties, Peasant through King, listed in the official Patch #17 notes. Above King, the tiers continue as King II, King III and so on. Full ladder on the difficulties page.

What are the card types?

Six: Troops, Buildings, Enchantments, Tomes, Towers and Bases. Despite the store page\'s loose use of the word spells, there is no Spells card type. Breakdown on the cards page.

How much does 9 Kings cost?

The base price is $19.99 (also £17.99 / €19.99 / ¥1,980). Frequent 50% sales bring it to $9.99, and the developer has said the price will not rise for 1.0.

Can I try it for free?

Yes. A free Steam demo is still live, and the mobile version launches as a free trial with one unlock. Details on the demo page.

Do Steam saves transfer to mobile?

That has not been announced. iOS saves sync between iOS devices, and Android saves through Google Play Games on supported versions; nothing official covers Steam-to-mobile transfer.
